Last week during the Full Moon July 10, 2025, I grounded in ceremony by the Humber River. ‘The Humber River has a rich traditional and historical significance, particularly for Indigenous peoples and as a transportation route.’ The Humber River has been a shared space with many indigenous nations and groups. I have witnessed these water passageways as a sacred site of reclamation, ceremony and healing in our shared communities with our human and more than human kin.
Alongside Ritualist, Ceremonialist, Earth Keeper - Kïkeyah, our intention was to bless our Sacred Womb Path Container. Kïkeyah received and channelled messages for us as she connected to the Earth Guardian Womb! It was a powerful ceremony in the height of heat in the sun. I see Kïkeyah as a young Baylan…a medium, medicine keeper that comes from an Ancient Future. I trust Kïkeyah as a channel for Divine Wisdom and give thanks for her to Bless our Sacred Womb Paths!
Our day was hot and sticky after witnessing sun showers bless our drive to our sacred site of ritual. Even in our loose and light skirts, the air was thick and the sun was warming. There were little clouds to shade us but we were nourished and hydrated by water, mulberries and so much medicine.
During our ceremony, Duck appeared to me not just in passing but as a teacher of a sacred dance. In a quiet moment, Duck showed me how to move, its body in opening movement as if preparing for flight, feet gently stepping in rhythm. There was something purposeful and ancient in the way Duck danced, like it was reminding me of a way of moving that brings medicine through the body.
As I followed the movement, Kïkeyah began to channel a flute song. The sound carried something deep and ancestral. I danced while she played, the music and movement weaving together like a prayer. It felt like we were opening something - a memory, a portal, a way of being.
Soon after, I had a vision. I saw people wearing skirts, dancing over smoke. Their movements were soft but strong, calling the smoke upward. I felt how this smoke rising from the earth, from offerings, from something much older than us…was entering their wombs, their bellies, their bones. It was a way of bringing the healing in. A ceremony of remembrance through the body.
The next day, a duck feather was left at our offering space. A quiet gift. An acknowledgment. Duck carries medicine that moves between land, water, and sky. To me, it came as a reminder of how to move between those spaces in ourselves…the emotional, the physical, the spiritual. How to bring what we gather in ceremony into the body. Into the everyday.
It also made me reflect on our traditional and Indigenous dances and how these movements are not just cultural expressions, but pathways to healing. Many of these dances are rooted in deep ritual, community care, and connection to spirit. They support not only the individual body and spirit, but the health and balance of the collective.
I share this with you all because I believe the message wasn’t just for me. It was for our container. An invitation to remember how we move with intention, how we let the elements guide us, and how healing can enter through the simple act of stepping, dancing, breathing with the Earth.
Let’s keep listening…
