Enduring the Sacred Path of Earth Living

Dear Community,

Some of us have been busy just simply surviving and fumbling through all the shifts. What a dance, this earth life! I’ve been witnessing many of you on the front lines with your bodies fully expressing resistance against colonizing forces. I thank you for your sacred duty to put your body in harm's way for our collective liberation - may you always be safe. I’ve been witnessing you grieve death in your families, circles, and in this world. I thank you for feeling deeply as an act of love and honor for those who are learning to dance with their ancestors in paradise. I’ve been witnessing you continue to seek joy and ease in such a dense time. I thank you for being here and continuing to ground in your medicine. I’ve been witnessing many of you and holding your hands upon the bridge between life and death. I thank you for your truths and this sacred grief work. I am witnessing you in prayer with the sacred duty of honoring your ancestors through your body and spirit; your body altar. I thank you sincerely for allowing me to witness your deep truths.

In the face of the profound challenges of witnessing genocide, extraction, torture, destruction, and dis-ease, it is crucial to emphasize the importance of ancestral care work. Our ancestors carry not only their lived experiences but also the epigenetic imprints of their traumas and triumphs. In turn, we carry these, too. By deepening in our sacred duty with our ancestors, we can begin to heal the intergenerational wounds that have been passed down through our DNA, through our collective and ripple medicine into the future generations. I truly believe this.

What we are witnessing and experiencing in this world is awakening what has been long awaited to be honoured and witnessed. The struggles and gifts of our ancestors are coming to the forefront, calling out to us to acknowledge and heal the wounds of the past. Through connecting with our ancestors, we can begin to release and transmute the energetic imprints of their suffering, allowing us to break free from the cycles of pain and oppression that have been passed down through generations. It may feel like too much to hold, kin but it is possible to do our sacred duty with gentleness and ease - this is a great part of this responsibility, too.

In the commitment to our ancestral care work, we can create a sacred space for healing and transformation. By honouring all that our our ancestors have endured and allowing ourselves to also be witnessed in our own sufferings of this earth plane, we can tap into a deep well of resilience and wisdom that can guide us through our own challenges. In doing so, we not only heal ourselves but also contribute to the healing of our ancestral lineage and future generations. We are future ancestors.

As decolonizing energy healers, it is essential that we prioritize ancestral care work as a foundational practice in our spiritual and healing work. By acknowledging + honouring our ancestors, and being in relation to our shared truths we can begin to unravel the cobwebs of colonization and oppression that have been woven into our DNA. Through this work, we can envision a regenerative future rooted in healing, justice, and liberation for all.

In solidarity and reverence for our Ancestors,

Jen / Tulay Araw
